girls in the car, often asleep

stopping at the diner in Warrington for ice-cream and occasionally some supper

Friday evening rush hour traffic to no traffic past Warrington

up hills and down valleys

roads lined with native cedar trees, black triangles interrupted with flashes of headlights

the old railroad station where. for a while, home made ice cream was available

past the horse show pavilion where Christopher Reeve met disaster

cornfields, green in spring, pale naples yellow in the fall, then forlorn stalks

finally glimpses of water between the trees

reflections of the lake in the moonlight
